Vardit Lightstone discusses her experiences growing up in Toronto as part of a Modern Orthodox Jewish family and community. Focusing more specifically on spiritual and religious practices, Lightstone reflects on gender segregation in the Synagogue, as well as the beauty of ritual and prayer in her personal life. Through her involvement with the Yiddish Book Center Internship program, she shares what she has learned about the historical significance of Yiddish in Jewish life and what Yiddish means in a contemporary context.
